Fees & Rebates

Our consultants' fees are for 50 minutes sessions. They are lower than the APS recommended fee for the same duration (currently $311).

Medicare rebates:

Under the Medicare's Better Access Initiative, eligible people can receive rebates for up to 10 individual sessions in a calendar year (1 January to 31 December).

The rebate amount will depend on the type of therapist, and your gap fee (out-of-pocket expense) will count towards the Medicare Safety Net (designed to protect high users of health services from large out-of-pocket expenses). For more information see Medicare Safety Net on DHS website.

To be able to claim rebates from Medicare you must obtain and bring a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP, or a referral from a psychiatrist. Your referring GP will assess your progress after the first 6 sessions and may extend the referral for 4 more sessions, if needed.

Bulk Billing:

Our therapists do not bulk bill Medicare, however some of them may bulk bill TAC, Worksafe or NDIS, or offer a discounted fee for people experiencing financial difficulties.

Requirements for sessions funded by 3rd parties:

Prior written approval is required from the respective 3rd party (WorkSafe, TAC, NDIS) before psychology sessions can start.

Victims of Crime - clients who have been victims of a crime and wish to request support from VOCAT (Victims of Crime Tribunal) can attend initial counselling sessions (as private clients or on a Mental Health Treatment Plan) and our therapists can help you apply to VOCAT for further funding for counselling.
