Noyonika Banik
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
BA(Hons) AppliedPsych, Master Psychotherapy & Counselling, PACFA registered
Hi, I’m Noyonika. I am a PACFA-registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Melbourne, and I’m passionate about creating a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported.
I work with adults, adolescents and young people experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship and family difficulties, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, grief and challenging life transitions. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who present with relationships issues, childhood trauma and family conflict.
I understand that reaching out for support can sometimes feel daunting. My approach is warm, person-centred and collaborative, and I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can simply be yourself. Together, we can make sense of what you’re experiencing, explore the patterns and experiences that may be affecting you, and find practical ways to help you move forward.
My work is grounded in trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practice. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, Solution-Focused Therapy and strengths-based approaches. However, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every person brings their own experiences, culture, strengths and needs into therapy, and I tailor our work accordingly.
Having worked across community, school, family and complex trauma settings, I have experience supporting people from diverse cultural and personal backgrounds. I am particularly passionate about helping people develop greater self-understanding, emotional resilience and a stronger sense of agency in their lives.
I offer sessions in English, Hindi and Bengali.
